As a co-founder of Rocking Ur Teens CIC with Jenny Garrett and Geoffrey Williams, I’m delighted to share the video from our Girls Empowerment Conference held in March.

Rocking Ur Teens is a social enterprise whose vision is to connect teens for a positive and vibrant future. We run events that inspire 13-14 year olds, increase their aspirations and enable them to make social change happen.

We ran our first highly successful conference in Canary Wharf for 200 teen girls and their teachers with girls attending from schools as far away as Carlisle and Exeter. Fantastic feedback was received from students, teachers, parents and sponsors with 100% saying that they would attend future Rocking Ur Teens events.

The energetic and interactive day was hosted by award winning presenter Remel London, with keynote speeches by Emma Barnett (Women’s Editor of the Telegraph), Yasmin Ali (Young Woman Engineer of the Year 2013) and the Mandeville Sisters (Presenters and vLoggers) sharing life experiences and inspiring messages with our guests.

The keynotes were followed by a choice of mini workshops on leadership, entrepreneurship and technology. A panel Q&A session with apprentices, graduates and interns sharing their experience of working in the corporate world. The final session for the day was about social change where our guests were encouraged to make a pledge to make a difference in their communities.

The next Rocking Ur Teens Girls Conference is on 8 March 2016 with the Boys Conference being held in November 2016.

We are seeking sponsorship partners and hosts to get involved with the growing Rocking Ur Teens movement. It’s the optimum way to nurture the pipeline of talent coming through whilst making a huge difference in the lives of young people.
