{"id":1106,"date":"2021-12-13T09:25:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T09:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ladieswholunchuk.com\/?p=1106"},"modified":"2022-04-11T20:35:51","modified_gmt":"2022-04-11T19:35:51","slug":"bell-hooks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ladieswholunchuk.com\/?p=1106","title":{"rendered":"Bell Hooks"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Saddened to hear about the passing of acclaimed author, trailblazer and activist bell hooks.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">As an author and activist, bill hooks truly influenced some of my early views about feminism and the intersection of gender, race and class.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Thankfully, her writing was prominent in my women\u2019s studies lectures at University &#8211; thanks to brilliant poet, writer and lecturer, Merle Collins.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The majority of the class were not women of colour, so their experiences of feminism did not include the specific experiences and issues faced by \u00a0many women of colour.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Just pulled out my copy of \u2018Ain\u2019t I A Woman: Black Women and Feminism\u2019 which still has some of my class lecture notes inside.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Thanks again to brilliant poet, writer and university lecturer Merle Collins and New Beacon bookshop for their vision, shining the light and ensuring that we were seen.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Bell hooks was a trailblazer and her writing has impacted the lives of so many people and will continue to do so.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saddened to hear about the passing of acclaimed author, trailblazer and activist bell hooks.
